Saturday 1st May 10.30 to 4pm, at Bagg’s Tree Field
Many thanks to all those who came to help on Saturday morning:- Joyce D, Claire S, Graham S, Penny M, Lorna W, Chris W, Angela, her husband, granddaughter & dog!, Liz, Janice M
I think we transformed the area & proved to be a great & efficient team! There was a strong WI influence, (thank you Penny for alerting members), the rain held off & we planted all 420 whips plus some oak saplings. From the Save Our Oaks campaign, (Oxford tree collaborate)
Thanks to the Woodland Trust for two x 420 mixed whips, canes & protective sheaths and to Penny Kinloch for applying for them. Thanks to Bagg’s Tree trustees for allowing us to plant along the Winnaway & to Bryn Gibson for letting us plant at school.
The whip planting at school which we did in January is looking good too!
Whip types were:- School: Blackthorn, hawthorn, dogwood, crab apple, rowan, elder
- Winnaway: Blackthorn, downy birch, hazel, blackthorn, crab apple
Sue
I still have some oak saplings if anyone has room for one or can think of a good spot to plant one!
