Many thanks to those of you who registered their votes for the sustainability ideas we could initiate as a community in Harwell. The results are now in.
You’ll remember that 18 ideas were suggested and there was a wide spread of votes which indicates good support. The most highly supported by voters were:
Equal first:
- Build new cycle routes and footpaths
- Set up a refill station within Harwell
Second:
- Initiate more tree planting within public spaces. i.e. The Rec.
Third:
- Set up a recycling scheme within Harwell
Fourth:
- Lobby for new-build houses to be more sustainable
I’d like to suggest that we start to take ideas into action as quickly as possible and that we use the next meeting at the Village Hall on 2nd October to focus on these initial favourites to explore and agree a plan of action for each. I suggest we divide into groups to do this. If there is any particular idea you would like to be involved with do let me know (either now or on the day) and I’ll make sure you get put into that group.
At the meeting I also plan a quick update on other activities that have been going on locally and as mentioned before, have a short session to formally set ourselves up as a Community Action Group and agree the Officers that have volunteered. See https://cagoxfordshire.org.uk
See you there!
Giles
