Our aim is to make Harwell village a safer place for cyclists and pedestrians.
We propose a cycle street, which follows the Science Vale Cycling Network Route 5, and runs from the roundabout joining the Harwell link road along the former B4493, through the village to the T-junction with the Reading Road, A417.
- Traffic reduction and calming measures should be introduced along its length and the speed limit should be reduced from 30 MPH to 20 MPH.
- Dedicated cycle lanes should be created to enable cyclists to be safer by increasing the distance between them and any passing vehicles.
- Cyclists should have priority over motorised traffic along the length of the cycle street.
- Road surfaces should be replaced or repaired to remove potholes and smooth cycle-street surfaces should be created.
