Lobbying for New Houses to be more Sustainable
Given the interest in the cycling survey, this group decided to run a similar on-line survey about the many new properties which are being planned to be built in and around Harwell over the coming years. We would very much like to understand everyone’s view about how energy efficient and environmentally friendly people think these houses should be. The findings will help guide our activities in the future.
The anonymous survey is now closed, and the results are now published.

Can we please avoid solar panels and velux windows they are just so ugly in any neighbourhood.
If you can’t afford the more expensive solar roof tile option or a proper dormer or mansard roof then don’t inflict ugliness on your neighbours and the rest of us.
It’s nice to have a garden of any size but why does it seem to be compulsory to have such tall fences around them??
Whilst not having garages may help with planning applications and Bream ratings not having access to one is not an option for a lot of people with a hobby or who just don’t want to clutter up their new home with bikes, toys, buggies and prams etc.
I’m also convinced theirs a market for quality “freehold” or “share of freehold” single level properties for people wishing to downsize to a property of similar quality to the one their selling. With a garage obviously.

Because making sure sole panels aren’t ugly is more important than saving the planet 🤦🏻♂️
I’m sorry, but that is just totally ridiculous.
