We had a very successful weekend of planting whips up the Holloway.
15 keen volunteers braved the wet and cold to plant 500 whips over a distance of 100 metres. After working out the best system for planting, great teamwork ensured that we managed 85 metres on Saturday, finishing off the rest on the Sunday. The soil was quite heavy clay, and the roots were bigger than we expected, so it took rather more hard labour than we anticipated.
We are very pleased with the outcome, and hopefully we will be able to have another session in the Autumn.
Thanks to all the willing volunteers, Wild Oxfordshire for providing the necessary plants and protection, and to the landowners for agreeing to the project.
