The Sustainable Harwell community action group is working to promote cycling and walking within Harwell and conducted a cycling survey with residents to find out more about what they need and what the barriers might be that hold people back from doing more.
The results from the cycling survey conducted in the village have been analysed. Over 100 responses show clearly that people want to be able to cycle more around the village and into Didcot but they are concerned about the danger of doing so, including poor road surfaces and worries about traffic and the lack of joined-up cycle routes.
The cycling group presented the findings and recommendations recently to members of the Parish Council as well as Harwell’s councillors from The Vale of the White Horse and Oxfordshire County Council.

The number of people using bikes has increased notably during the coronavirus pandemic and with the recent government announcement that £2 billion is being made available to promote cycling and walking as the lockdown is eased it seems like the time is right to make improvements.
